Overall Review: I *HIGHLY* recommend this computer to ANYONE. (I *HIGHLY* recommend BitDefender Antivirus 2009, it's VERY fast and does everything you need - a firewall can be accomplished with Windows Firewall, since WinFirewall is integrated) The 8 GB of RAM is HIGHLY useful and allows extreme flexibility - I've run a virtual Windows 7 machine (with 3GB RAM allocated to the VM) AND playing one of the above 3D (non-browser based) games ATĬons: This isn't really a con, but the computer comes with a trial of Norton 360, the most resource-hogging and wasting AV on the market. Photoshop runs so smooth, you might as well be running MS Paint. Tested in Cinema4D (3DS MAX should also run extremely smooth) This computer also can render out advanced 3D materials on NURBS polygons in MERE SECONDS. Any and all web-based game, considering that you have the correct plugins (flash, shockwave, etc.)

It runs the following games at full settings, highest resolution (1440x900 on my monitor): It comes configured with the smallest amount of crapware I've ever seen, and there aren't any weird services running on it from the factory. Pros: This computer is a GREAT deal considering that you haven't built it from the ground up.

I had an external USB drive that I had to plug in somewhere else and so the iPod will use one and if my son plugs in his portable USB drive, all the ports are full. Four USB ports in the back is not really enough these days when you plug in printer, keyboard, mouse, and now the speakers supplied use that as a power source, there goes your 4 ports. I'm not going to return it just for that because the USB ports will be in use almost full time. It weighs a ton and is FAST - what else could you ask for!Ĭons: Having said that I like the case, it should be noted that the media ports that are mounted on a "pop up" mechanism in the top will no longer shut. Many have complained about the "plastic case", but I think the piano black looks great and Gateway ships it with lots of protective plastic on the areas that might get scratched.

The audio can be controlled via the case, even software like Media Monkey, but I don't intend to use that much. I have not watched any video or played games so I cannot comment on it's capabilities there.

When you move to a 64 bit platform, some of your really old software won't install but that's to be expected. I didn't need the trial software either, so that was removed as well. It really doesn't have much bloatware so it only took a few minutes to uninstall Norton and install BitDefender. As others have mentioned the 8 gigs of RAM make this PC hum right along and even though many complain of Vista it's not that bad once you shut off UAC so that it stops asking so many questions. Pros: This computer was my first real experience with Vista.
